With a group of 6 other cyclists from Strathdon, Senergy's Richard Burn (pictured below right) is cycling from Lands End to John O' Groats, between 23rd Sept and 9 Oct 2009. Apart from the personal challenge, the aims of the ride are to:

• raise money for Strathdon Primary School in Aberdeenshire and the local charity, Cash for Kids (chosen by the school children).
• introduce health/exercise, diet/nutrition and geography/history the the school children along the route.
• promote the benefits of cycling.

Richard will update daily progress on the road with a GPS mobile phone, donated by Senergy, together with daily blog and photos.

Route/Tracking

The ride is being tracked using a Blackberry and the riders position is be shown on the map below. The position is updated every three minutes refresh the page to see progress (hit F5).

The route through England is based on the Cycle Touring Club's recommended route using Youth Hostels for overnight stops. We then head through the Borders, Edinburgh, Pitlochry and Inverness. Total distance is approximately 1066 miles.
