Senergy set to expand across Scandinavia after doubling Norway operations

30/08/2012

Senergy is on track to double the size of its Norwegian operations for the second consecutive year with the global-leading energy services company also set for significant growth across the North Sea and Scandinavia.

This year, Senergy has increased its team by more than 30% from 22 in 2011 to 34 and it anticipates further building on this number over the next six months with at least 12 new recruits. The company is also on target to double its turnover during the same period.

Frode Linge, managing director for Senergy AS, said the strong business growth was mirrored by the company’s increasing portfolio of high-profile clients and projects not only in Norway but globally.

He said: “Senergy has carved out a compelling, niche market position for itself in Norway through its solid track record for delivering integrated, innovative technical solutions which span from high-value subsurface expertise, geohazard assessment and software design & engineering to drilling project management, well engineering and well operations.

“Our investment in people also significantly sets us apart and what is particularly notable is that the diversity of nationalities at Senergy AS underpins the company’s global industry presence, reinforcing our desire to work internationally together. As a result, Senergy has established strong, client relationships and continues to build on its track record which has led to the company’s fast-evolving business growth around the world.

“This strength and depth of technical capabilities stands us in good stead in Norway where the oil and gas opportunities are immense. Industry projections for the forthcoming year estimate that the Norwegian market is worth in excess of NOK180billion (approx. £18billion) and Senergy is well positioned to capture a substantial share of this. The Scandinavia market is steadily growing and we are confident that Senergy, which is also experiencing growth in Denmark, will capitalise on the opportunities.”

Senergy AS was established in Stavanger, 2005, when the company supported Talisman Energy Norge on the Varg development. It has since substantially grown its client portfolio and now supports most of the region’s top league operators such as: Statoil, Petoro, Noreco, Centrica, BG, OMV and GDF SUEZ.

The company’s rapid expansion in the region led to the company relocating in 2011 to major new business and training facilities in central Stavanger. Just months later, Senergy opened additional premises in Oslo to enhance the company’s reach to its fast-evolving client base.

Senergy’s chief executive officer, James McCallum, said: “Norway has always been a key region for Senergy and the strategic growth in this province has been complimentary to the company’s global success and increasing industry recognition.

“The significant business results of Senergy AS, combined with the achievements of our other company regions, further reinforce the Group’s ambitious vision for Senergy to be the ‘preferred knowledge partner of choice’ to oil and gas operators in Scandinavia and beyond.”

Demand for Senergy AS’s specialist training services has also been integral to the company’s Norwegian growth due to its capability to develop client-specific training programmes. The company offers an extensive training programme encompassing petrophysics, core analysis, geomechanics (sand production and wellbore stability), reservoir seismic characterisation and geology. The training courses are delivered by Senergy specialists, many of whom are also SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) Distinguished Lecturers.
