James has 30 years’ experience in well engineering, well construction and business management, including 4 years’ operator experience. Between 1993 and 2002 he was founder, and ultimately president, of Europe’s leading wells project management company, with a turnover in excess of $100 million.
He was an active member of the joint industry/UK government task force scheme PILOT from 1997–2002 and co-creator of Scotland’s renewable energy task force, the Forum for Renewable Energy Development in Scotland.
James has worked in the UK, Europe, Thailand, Burma, Pakistan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, USA and West Africa.
From 2002–2003 he was an Energy Policy Consultant to the European
Economic Community in Brussels, where he was instrumental in developing
energy policy, in particular around renewable and green energy
resources.
In 2003 James returned to the UK to create Senergy, a diversified
energy services company with capabilities in both the hydrocarbon and
alternative energy sectors. Having doubled Senergy’s turnover in each
of its formative years to $125 million in 2009, James was recently
recognised as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for
Scotland.
James is now focused on internationalising the company and lives with his family in Dubai.
Formerly with Exxon Mobil and more recently the CEO of ITI Energy, Nial McCollam now leads Senergy Alternative Energy, the fast-growing alternative energies business which is part of diversified energy group, Senergy.
Set up to capitalise on the group’s existing technical expertise and expand these capabilities globally through acquisition, Senergy Alternative Energy supports the development of commercially competitive sources of alternative energy.
The rapid evolution of this business in the last 12 months has already
increased its ability to expand its development services into
alternative and renewable energy sectors with a focus on wind power (on
and offshore), carbon capture and storage, coal bed methane and
geothermal.
Nial has a First Class BSc (Hons) in Chemical
Engineering from Heriot-Watt University (1986) and an MBA from
Edinburgh University (1998).
