Geophysics
The Rocks
Geologically-sound geophysical interpretation is our primary aim. Our geoscientists work together as an integrated team to evaluate all the data, using evidence gathered from seismic, logs and tests to construct robust, regionally-consistent local models in a data-driven approach.
At the same time, we are always thinking about rock properties and rock physics because the seismic trace itself is a direct signature of these. Subtle variations in amplitude or other seismic attributes may be mappable and may correlate with fluid content, sand content, porosity or other basic rock properties.
We have staff skilled in AVO and Inversion, with expertise in 4D seismic, adding the dimension of elapsed time. Paradoxically, 4D seismic brings geophysics full circle to the end of field life. Time lapse surveys have new applicability in CO2 storage, chiefly in proving that the formation is capable of holding the carbon dioxide for the required safety period.
Non-Seismic Technologies
Potential fields (gravity and magnetic) have historically been used in the exploration phase. Recent innovations such as gradiometry have led to higher resolution and greater applicability to field appraisal. In Senergy we are experienced in the planning and interpretation of such surveys and their integration with seismic interpretation.
Software
Senergy uses all the industry standard geophysical
packages e.g. GeoQuest, SeisWorks, Kingdom, Petrel
and Paradigm for seismic work and Oasis Montaj for potential fields work. Our skilled team is able to move easily between platforms. We are continually seeking developing technology and software and at the same time finding new, innovative ways to apply the existing packages.
For instance, not only do we have the built-in trace
processing functions in the workstations, but in fact, many of our geoscientists are skilled software developers in their own right. They bring imagination, creativity and innovation to bear on complex structural, geological and computational problems.
